Our Shows

8th Floor's shows are 100% improvised. This means that we come up with all our scenes on the spot - no scripts, no preset roles, and no limit to the possibilities.

Traditionally, performers recognize two different types of comedic improvisation: short-form improv and long-form improv. Short-form consists of improvised games, similar to those seen on Whose Line Is It Anyway? In long-form improv, the performers incorporate an audience suggestion into an improvised series of scenes akin to a sitcom or play.

8th Floor hold shows regularly in the Ohio Union's US Bank Conference Theatre. These shows consist of two long-form sets, a fan-favorite round of Dream/Nightmare, and a few crowd-pleasing short-form games. Shows usually last around an hour and a half.

In addition to these monthly shows, the 8th Floor performs regularly at residence halls around campus. These shows consist of both long-form and short-form improv, lasting anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half.
